Established in 1998 as the India Records Academy, the organization began its journey as an academy imparting holistic education in extracurricular and co-curricular domains. Over the years, it evolved into a certifying body dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievements and exceptional feats by Indians globally.

On August 15, 2025, the India Records Academy was officially renamed as the Indian Book of Records, reflecting its broader vision and growing national footprint. Previously operated as a proprietorship firm, the brand's ownership has been vested, since 2017, with Amazing Worldwide Achievers Limited, a reputed public limited company based in India. All rights, ownership, copyrights, and trademarks of the Indian Book of Records are held by Amazing Worldwide Achievers Limited.
